Sponsor A Student Work Placement

With each student work placement of $500 (for which your business will receive a charitable receipt), your dealership agrees to host an AET or PT student for 40 - 50 hours of (unpaid) work.

“In AET20, I made industry connections and gained hours that can be applied to my apprenticeship.”

How our AET / PT courses work

Online Theory

50 Hours

50 Hours AET 20 & 30 and PT 30 are available to students across Saskatchewan. Once enrolled, students will complete 50 hours online theory under the guidance of the Sun West DLC teacher by mid-November.

Students must have a confirmed work placement to be enrolled in the course.

Work Placement

40 Hours

Once the student has completed the online theory, they will begin their (unpaid) work placement at an ag dealership close to their community.

Sun West DLC’s Ag coordinator will facilitate placements at dealerships around the province and provide support to host dealers. Educators from the local school division will supervise students throughout the duration of the placement.

Boot Camps

10 Hours

The Ag coordinator will work with teacher supervisors to coordinate a joint AET/PT Boot Camp at Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Saskatoon campus. Students will see firsthand what AET and PT apprenticeship training looks like, meet classmates from across the province, and work with Sask Polytechnic instructors and apprentices.

Boot Camp (approx. 10 hours over 1 or 2 days) is optional and students can choose to attend or, if not, the 10 hours will be added to their work placement (50 hour total).
